Week 5 - Update

This week I received news that my application to be the Artistic Director of Dance Festival Ireland had, unfortunately, not been successful. Still, at least, they were very tactful in their explanation of why I hadn't managed to make the shortlist:

"The principal reason for this is that we received a number of applications which had a higher degree of alignment with the selection criteria and which offered a range of experience and skills closer to our requirements."

I'm still not entirely sure what it was about my CV or covering letter than let me down but I can only assume they must have had some very good candidates if I didn't manage to proceed to the next stage of the selection process. However, they were very nice about it and I appreciated their good wishes at the end of the letter:

"I would like to wish you every success with your career in dance and the performing arts."

The big news (at least for me) this week was that there has been some interest about turning the blog into a book. Now, while it is impossible to get excited about it at such an early stage, I will still be keeping my fingers firmly crossed and hoping something good comes out of it...

And finally, keeping you abreast of my anti-weightism campaign, I am today able to unveil a campaign poster image. I will also be stepping up my efforts in this next week and tackling some of the major players in the recruitment industry who've decided to keep people like me down...

Got my first rejection letter of my current campaign today. Sounded a lot like yours i.e. other candidates were a better fit. Saw this in an advert on Guardian jobs and thought of you - "Acts up in the team leaders absence". I know I do, it usually involves turning up the toons and dancing (badly) round the office.

I'd definitely buy the book and so would the people I've recommended this site to.
